Physical Description Summary: Big Yan is not irregularly tall, but he is very broadly-built, like a bull. He has the classic grey-cream coat, with darker black fur along his back and hips, and a particularly pronounced mane, which emphasises his mass. His legs are long, strong, but age and past struggles have taken its toll on him. His face is scarred up, a large scar crossing his right eye that occasionally makes it difficult to see clearly. His right ear is torn and tattered, like an old alley cat. His left canine tooth is chipped and broken, giving him a snaggle-toothed appearance. His left hind leg sustained serious damage earlier in his life, and so he limps from time to time. Other than his scars and his mass, he looks rather regular, a normal Eurasian wolf.
The Facts:
Personality: Big Yan is an old gentleman. He is rather quiet, but has a soft spot for young pups and whelps. He also tends to be extremely chivalrous towards females, who he knows are perfectly capable, but he would not sleep at night knowing he hadn’t done everything he could have to help a female (although mostly he remembers what his mother would have done if she ever found out). He is kind, well-travelled and protective of his own.
History: Big Yan was born in the far-away lowlands of Fyvie, to a beautiful mother and wild, fanciful father, after whom he was named. When he outgrew his father, he was called the Big Yan, and the name stuck. He will rarely tell someone else his name. He had fourteen siblings – nine brothers, and four sisters. At barely over a year old he departed home with his brothers, wandering with them for nearly a year before falling in love with a highland wolf named Jean.
Despite the scorn from his brothers, he stayed in the far-off highlands with Jeannie, settling there to start his own family at the age of two. He and Jeannie had a good life for many years, raising thirteen children with another litter just born.
It all came to a close when their territory was invaded by Big Yan’s older brother Baltic Malcolm and his pack. Sons, daughters, wife and newborn pups murdered, Big Yan and his last surviving daughter Elsa fled. They arrived from over the Barbary fence and found near no one – deciding to make their own home there in the mountains.
